Research programme
The Tech Skill Gap Index
A quarterly view of CV-reported skill coverage among voluntary JobUp research participants. It is not a measure of verified ability, a ranking of candidates or a representative survey of the technology workforce.
Published findings
No report has been published. We will not invent a 2027 report or reuse historical CVs without research consent. Publication requires a completed quarter, eligible contributions and editorial review.
What is collected
Participation is optional and separate from account creation, early access and CareerUP marketing. Only the chosen role, checklist matches, quarter and consent record are used. Source contributions remain account-linked so participants can withdraw them; public reports contain aggregates, not personal records.
How publication works
One current contribution per account prevents repeated uploads from increasing the sample count. Only completed quarters are eligible. A role cohort must contain at least 30 participants; each published skill percentage requires at least 10 participants in both the matched and unmatched groups. These are publication safeguards, not a guarantee of anonymity.
There are no public person-level records, CV excerpts, employer breakdowns, cross-tab filters or freely queryable research endpoints. An editor reviews a quarterly aggregate before publication. Once published, that quarter is frozen to avoid comparisons between revisions exposing individual changes.
Limitations that travel with every report
CV omissions are not proof of missing skills. AI extraction can make mistakes. Checklist coverage depends on the published vocabulary and is not proficiency, certification or employability. Participants are self-selected; account uniqueness does not establish one person per account. Scores must not be used to make individual hiring decisions.
Raw contributions are excluded after withdrawal and are pruned by the publication tool after a year. Published aggregates cannot be recalled when a participant later withdraws. No historical CV collection or marketing list is backfilled.
